What I wanted in a husband

I found this when I was looking for my checkbook the other day. This is a list I wrote in 1996 about my future husband. It’s what I was looking for when I was a frshman in college.
Jeff and I got married in 2008. So 12 years later - I think I did pretty good! As far as what I didn’t get, some is ok not to have, some we are working on, and some were silly 

Envisions the same future as me
Will cuddles
Not embarrassed to touch in public
Lots and good hugs
Sensitive
Listens to me
Never looks down on me
Faithful
Man of God
Dependable
Honest
Trustworthy
Cute
No smoking
Casual drinker
Hardworker
Knows way around the house, likes to fix things
Likes to cook
Will help clean
Won’t touch me with his feet
Can make me laugh
Understands my moods
Loves my family
Loves my pets
Has own friends
Likes to shop
Cares about appearance
Gets along with my friends
Likes to go out
Likes to stay in
Likes games
Thinks of me as equal
Wants a monkey
Good natured
Can take a joke
Makes me feel special
Makes me feel beautiful
Lets me be my own person
Loves to laugh
Sense of humor
Integrity
Good work ethic
Morals match mine
Beliefs match mine
Romantic
Does things to show he cares

Bean Saturday

This morning we got to babysit the Bean. Man, I love that kid. He cracks me up.
We watched Elmo and played around with a marker and dry erase board. Then we played with his ball. Then with a cool microphone thing we got him - and he loves it!
We took the boy to lunch at TGI Fridays. He had some green beans & ranch, chicken, pasta, mashed potatoes, fruit snacks, and dessert.
We were getting our food and I looked over at him. Here is what he did with the ranch ...

Then he got chocolate cake on his pants. So we took him to Old Navy (any excuse, right?) and got him a new little outfit. We changed his clothes and his diaper and took him back home.
What a fun morning. Now on to homework :)

Homecoming

It is homecoming today at school. We don't have a football team so we always hold our dance in January/February.
I made sure we had a king/queen this year. It wasn't a cool as I would have liked, but I think it went pretty good.
We get to stay for the dance tonight. It's been 16 years since I've been to a Homecoming dance :) Fun!

7.5

We are a 7.5. I love my husband.

ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT

This blogging daily might kill me. I don't see how anyone has time or thoughts to blog every day. I have to sneak it in and sometimes do multiple posts and save them so I can publish one each day. Sometimes I have to change the date of the post so I can have one show up each day. (Is that cheating? Ha)
Taking 9 hours this Spring may or may not have been a good idea. It was only the second week of class so I think I am ok right now. Once work gets even busier, I might start rethinking all the hours. Most people take 3 or 6 only. I'll get through it, just don't know if I can pull off all As like I wanted. We'll see.
So far this week I have to write a brief over a court case in my law class. I also need to have a 45 minute powerpoint presentation over 2 chapters from my leadership class (plus a shorter 15 minute one to present in front of the class). I need to do some online scavenger hunt about data. It's alot.
I'm so glad I can then go back to blogging when I think of something fun to say. :)

Nope, Not Me

Everyone is pregnant. Like it's so easy. They can get pregnant just thinking about it.
No, I'm NOT. It's not happening. It's apparently not so easy for me. Yes, I would like to be. No, there is no big announcement. Of course we are trying/hoping and want one. It just hasn't happened.
Jeff's cousin just got married in December. They are pregnant. I'm excited for them and can't wait to play with their little peanut. But really? Already? I've been married a year and a half.
I wanted to get pregnant this summer. Or at least in the fall so I could have one in the summer. I don't care when anymore. I just want one.
I think I might be broken.
Gr.

Here is where I will be doing my finest work :)

And there's a close up.
Yeah, trying to kick that Dr.Pepper habit.

Bathroom done!

And it's done! I think it looks pretty good. Too bad Jeff and I are the only ones who see it.
Here are the pictures of the finished product. I'll be glad when I can shut the windows and stuff because it still sinks and I'm freezing!

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Since Jeff is out town, I got to spend the weekend however I wanted to. So I watched LIfetime movies, slept in, took Poopers for a walk, and painted the bathroom :)
I spray painted circles in yellow and orange in the toilet area of our master bathroom. I wanted something bright and fun to wake us up in the morning. I think that will work great!
The problem with painting in there - no window. No way of getting the fumes out. So I have both vents on, bedroom windows open, bedroom fan on, and a small fan in the bathroom. I hope it helps!! (Why is there a window in there if I can't open it!? Seriously!!)
I painted some letters silver that I was going to put in there, but I might put them somewhere else in the bathroom now. I don't want to mess up the circles I worked so hard at.
Pictures coming soon!

P.S.

I'll be glad when I don't feel the pressure to post daily :)

Friday Fun

Today was the end of the semester!! One down, one to go!! This year has been a LONG year so far. I think I have stayed late almost every day this year. There is just so much to do and so much more that can be done. I think we finished a great first semester. I look forward to second semester!
I got to go play with Chanda tonight. We saw Legion and went to Red Lobster. Yum. What a fun day. I REALLY liked Legion. It wasn't the scary creepy movie I thought it would be. It was about God, Angels, Hope. I enjoyed it. And I enjoyed dinner!
It was a good day.

Class 1 & 2

Last night was my first (and second) class for my administration certification. I start the third one on Monday.
It doesn't seem THAT bad. I know they are Masters level courses. I can handle those. I've done that. I worry about the summer Doctoral level :)
I will be doing a newsletter, interviewing people, attending school board meetings, writing papers, writing briefs, memorizing cases, taking mid-terms, reading, reading, reading. It will be a lot of work, but I need 8 classes for the cert. I will only have 5 left after the spring!! Hopefully I can squeeze in some mini-terms and a summer 2 session and I can finish those in the fall? Fingers crossed!!

Picture Tuesday

So I am done with my 2 classes tonight. We got out early since it was our first night.
I'm too tired to play on here tonight.
So pictures of Poopers. From our Monday morning lie-in (I'm reading a book about English chicks right now)

She thought I was crazy for waking her up.

Then she was alert and ready for the day!

I love days off

Today is MLK day. We had the day off! I love these days!!
I slept in until about 7:30 today. I then laid around in bed and played on the computer and read my book until 9:00. I jumped in the shower and headed out to lunch with Lena and her girls. It was our Christmas lunch :) I love Bone Daddy's. Then it was off to Quiggly's to paint us some pottery. I made myself a holder for pens for my new desk/workstation. Once I get it back I'll make sure to post a picture. We also had a free coupon for a glass fusion magnet so we did that.
Then I went to the store and got some magazine holders to hold all of papers I expect to be writing. I want to keep them to help me with my dissertation (any thesis topic ideas on that??).
Got home and Jeff and I walked Poopers since it was such a great day today.
Waiting on him to get home with dinner now.
What a great day off!!

Weekends are hard!

It's hard to blog on the weekends. I have so much to do and I hardly have time to sit down and write a long blog. It's way easier during the week.
I thought I would add a little more though, as I'm watching the Golden Globes in bed :)
I love Doogie Houser! Neil Patrick Harris is awesome. Why didn't he win? Dumb foreign press.
I am typing this while Jeff puts together my new work station. We were told at our doctoral orientation that we should have a little area. An area we can go to when we have some free time so we can write or work on our dissertation. We can keep all our papers in this area and just have it all in one area. So we went and got me a cheap little desk at Walmart. I got a tub to put on the shelf. I also got some of the new sharpee pens. I love those!! I'm *slightly* addicted to office supplies and organizational things. Jeff finished the little workstation and my bin doesn't fit!! I guess now I get to find one that will. I also want little magazine holders to hold all my files/papers. Now I just need somewhere to put all these books I expect to buy over the next 3-5 years. Bring it!

Just saw a commercial for The Apprentice. I LOVE that show! It's a celebrity edition again. I'm not as big a fan of those, but I'm still excited! I know, I may be the only one who watches it. Ha. That's ok, I don't care.

Fun Sunday

Poor Cowboys.
Jeff is out washing our cars now. What a good guy :)

All In

Poker Time! We had 5 people come for dinner and poker. I love playing poker! I wish I could win more. I used to win all the time - now my streak is over. JEFF is winning all the time. That just doesn't seem right :) At least he is bringing home money somehow.
We had a great time. Thanks everyone for coming!!

Is it really Friday?

I'm so glad that it's Friday!!

The End.

Urgh

I'm so frustrated. I'm not sure where to go from here.
I've been working my tail off. I feel like it's for nothing today. I know everyone gets in a funk like this. Today I'm there. It keeps building and I'm not sure how to stop it.
I have goals and things I want to accomplish. I'm working towards them. I'm doing all I can. I feel like they are so far away. And until that time, everyone around me gets what I want.
Bleh. I hope this goes away soon.

Keno Keno Keno

It's Keno night at my house.
I have so much to do before that. I have been super busy since Sunday.
We had the Cowboy game Saturday night.
We saw his parents on Sunday and did some projects around the house.
Monday was Joe Willy night as a fundraiser for a mission trip.
Tuesday I worked until 6. Met Jeff and then got home around 8. I then started cooking some of my things for Keno.
Today I am working my buns off at work until 11. Then I have TELPAS training in Mesquite until 4. Then back home to finish cooking and getting ready for Keno!
Tomorrow night is orientation for my classes that start next week. I cant' wait!!
Friday after work I plan to sleep. Maybe from 6 - the next day :)

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

It's Tuesday

1. Are you usually late, early, or right on time?
I am almost always late.

2. What is your middle name?
June

3. What are the last 4 digits of your cell phone number?
3137

4. How big is your bed?
It's a queen. I hate it because it doesn't fit us and the dog. Or at least, the dog has to sleep on my side so it doesn't fit us together. Jeff gets his side all to hisself.

5. What are you allergic to?
Things that grow. Spring and Fall always have me sneezing!

6. What is the first thing you do in the morning?
I hit snooze about 3 times. Then I stumble to the bathroom in the dark and search for the light switch. Peeing is hard in the dark :)

7. What was your favorite TV show growing up?
Gosh. I can't think of an all time favorite. Maybe Doogie Houser, M.D.

8. Will you, or did you, go to your 10 year high school reunion?
I did go. I helped plan the thing. We are considering having a 15 year get together this summer.

9. If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?
The sound waves to happen, there is just nobody to intercept them. (I made that up)

10. What, in your opinion, is the greatest invention? (You know, since sliced bread…)
The snuggie!! :)

*YAWN*

So I am very tired. It's 7:30 and I want to go to bed. I have a great post coming, today is just not the day it will be posted :)
How about some pictures?

Keno Time at the Sanders' House

I am hosting our Wednesday Keno group this month. We get to pick a theme for the presents. I always take it a step further and put the theme with decorating and even the menu :)
This month deals with the alphabet and initials. You bring a present with the first initial of your name. I can't tell you what I'm bringing yet since it hasn't happened!!
Here is my menu:
A - Appetizer rolls
B - Brisket
C - Cheeseball

A - Avacado salad
B - Banana Pudding
C - Carrots

Fun huh?

I tried to get them to spell out Keno :)

Projects

I love projects. I have several projects that I want to do for our house this year. I have several more I want to do for gifts and stuff. I like to tackle a project and get it done. But in the back of mind I think "what if I can't find a good project after this one is done". That would be horrible!!
I subscribe to several house project/decorating blogs. I steal ideas from them and try to do them myself.
I just recently stole a cute decorating idea. I have it set up for Valentines Day right now.

I can then switch out the book titles and the stuff in the jar when the next Holiday comes around. I love it!!
These are the projects I want to do for 2010. I have a smaller set of projects for Jeff during 2010:
Christmas napkins (this involves learning to sew so that *might* be tricky)
crochet/knit myself a scarf (Chanda will be helping teach me this one!)
Refinish a small chest of drawers for the living room
Paint a picture (Jeff and I both have a blank canvas that we need to get artsy on)
Mod Podge my file cabinet with something? neat
Spray paint my letters for the bathroom
Spray paint the bathroom walls
Makeshift chalkboard
Organize paper goods
Attempt the dehydrator
Figure out what to do with empty bedroom

Jeff's 2010 projects:
Make a nicer back patio/deck.
Garden
Front garden
Kitchen tile
Paint bedroom
Crown molding bedroom
Paint a picture
Jeff will stain the drawers once I sand them down. There was a stain incident in the past.
Organize attic
Add extra board to attic
Clean extra bedroom

I *think* we have enough to keep us busy for a few months :)

Disappointed

Well, Texas didn't win. They fought a good fight. Even after McCoy was hurt and pulled. The freshman stepped up to play in the National Championship game and didn't do too badly. It was still disappointing. Especially since I stayed up to watch it. Ha. Getting home around midnight and then trying to wake up at 5. We should have won just for that! Poor work people - I didn't have time to shower this morning (woke at 6!) Eh. Oh well.

Hook 'Em!

Tonight is the BIG GAME! We'll be heading out to cheer on our Texas Longhorns! I hope we don't freeze to death :)
Even Poopers is in the spirit

Bunco!!

If you know me, you know I like to be involved in things. I'm in 3 different bunco/keno groups. I play softball. I want to start back into soccer. I'm starting classes in 2 weeks. I'd probably join anything else someone invited me to. :)
I don't want to miss out on the fun!! Life it too short to sit around at home. Don't get me wrong, I love being lazy and sitting on the couch watching Biggest Loser, the Office, or anything *I* like with Jeff (like last night). But I love doing things.
We recently started a new Bunco group on Monday nights. It has a few friends from a different group, some friends I knew before, some friends I connected with on Facebook (LOVE IT), and some Lakeview folks that I knew but didn't hang out with.
Can I just say - I HEART that group. They are a great group of girls. I love seeing them every month. I'm excited to get to know them better! They are all fabulous gals!

I love my other Bunco group as well. I was brought into that one by just one friend. They were a set group. It's harder to come into a set group, but they have been so welcoming. They are all very sweet and we always have a great time.

My Keno group is hilarious and fun! They have all been friends for YEARS. I was brought into that by the same girl as Bunco. They mostly work together as well. So they get to chat all day and they know each other's history and have been there through most everything. I feel a bit like an outsider looking in sometimes, but not always. They are pretty welcoming of new people.

I really enjoy all 3 groups. I would love to keep them all up even as I am taking 3 classes this spring. I hope to eventually get pregnant as well. I would still love to be a part of all 3 even as busy as that will keep me. Luckily, I have a great husband who is ok with that. (I even thinks he likes when I leave so that he can sit around in his funky socks)

Ok, so I couldn't find the sock picture. I'll keep looking!

Anyways, I just feel really blessed to have gotten involved with such great ladies!

10 on Tuesday

Questions for Tuesday, January 5, 2010!
1. Are there any movies that inspire you to bake/cook? Of course Julie/Julia did. I cooked the beef bourgenon in my crock pot shortly after and loved it!
2. What’s your favorite food blog and why? I jump around. I subscribe to several that I love trying.
3. Who’s your favorite celebrity chef? Gordon Ramsey – but I wouldn’t want him in my kitchen. He’d make me cry
4. What’s your favorite kitchen tool? My pink & purple spatulas. I do almost everything with them
5. When it comes to cooking/baking, what’s your specialty? I bake pretty good. Nothing I make looks exactly like it should but it usually tastes pretty good
6. When in the kitchen, do you wear an apron, if so, any cute ones you’d like to share? I have a few cute ones. I never remember to put them on. I need to work on that!
7. Is there anything that intimidates you when it comes to baking/cooking? (ex. Pie crust, yeast breads, sauces, etc…) Cheesecake is hard. I also hate making anything that is super sticky/messy. I don’t like messes 
8. What’s the weirdest gadget in your kitchen? Weirdest? I’m not sure I have one.
9. What’s your go-to music for cooking/baking? Christmas carols during December. And then just 80’s/90’s from the TV
10. After several failures, what do you do to motivate yourself to get back in the kitchen to try again? If I mess up something tricky, I like to them try something a little easier that I know I can do.

Not the best way to start back

So last night I got into bed around 8ish. Jeff came in and we watched the Top Chef Super Challenge (or whatever they called it). I read for a bit after and started falling asleep. So I turned off the light around 10 for bed. And I layed there. And layed there. Thinking of all I needed to do this semester and this week and this month. And I layed there. Then I was hot. Then I got cold. Then the dog took my spot. And I kept laying.
At about 11:15 I turned the light back on. I finished my book completely. I read a magazine. Jeff came in around 11:30. He went to sleep after joking with me about still being awake. (yeah, super funny when I wake up at 5:00 AM!) I kept reading. I got onto facebook. I played on facebook for a while. I played some mah jong (?). I finally turned the light back off close to 1:30 I think. I fell asleep some time around 2:00 this morning. Dog woke up at 4:30. Fun!! I woke up at 5:10 for my first day back to work.
Think I might be a bit tired today.
Please excuse the grumpiness.
:)

"I like you - just the way you are"

This is going to sound horrible. But the BEST movie ever is Bridget Jones' Diary. I love it. It has gotten me through many many tough times. I watch it when I'm sick, can't sleep, boy break ups, friend break ups, deaths. I watch it all the time. I can't even tell you how many times I've watched it. I used to keep it in the DVD player. It is my comfort. Is that sad? Probably so - but whatever works, right?
I haven't had a lot of time to sit and re-watch a movie lately. I decided I needed to watch it on New Years Day (or close to it).
It is about a 30 something who sets out to follow her own new years resolutions. She's clumsy, a bit over weight, and doesn't really do/say the right thing. She reminds me alot of myself. And she has someone who loves her - just the way she is. Before I got married, that is what I wanted. It's what I dreamed about. This movie gave me hope. She was wrong in so many ways and someone still loved her. I knew someone would have to love me even though I am also wrong in many ways.
I am on my second DVD. This time it's the special edition. Not sure what's different about it though?
This will always be my "go-to" movie. :)

I resolve

I resolve lots of things this year.
I'm printing it out and putting it in my office, on the fridge, in my car, wherever else I can put it. I'm hoping Jeff will do this as well. I think it will help me keep mine.
So ready or not, here they are:
1. Workout 4 days a week or more
2. Lose weight
3. Chart
4. Be a better wife
5. Control temper
6. Bite my tongue more
7. Not say mean things to or about people
8. Find a church home
9. Find a Sunday school
10. Dust once a month
11. Get A's in my classes
12. Be the best I can be at my job
13. Blog 3 or 4 times a week

Long time no see

It's been a LONG time since I've posted. I have so much to say. My problem is then - I have too much for one post and then I put it off. It then becomes even more and then I'm overwhelmed.
I'm going to *attempt* to post daily. The theme on the blogger site is *BEST*. Maybe I'll follow that theme.
I skipped over Thanksgiving all-together:
We spend it with my family first and then head to Jeff's familys house.
It was an ineresting year this year. Not everyone from my family came. Mom tried to cut off her thumb. Someone had been drinking too much. It wasn't as great as it could have been. I won't go into detail because it doesn't deal with me.
We also spent lunch with my grandpa over the break. He came to my brothers house and my aunt came over. I have a hard time with him. I'm pretty angry with him. Him and my grandmother were divorced before I was born. He remarried. Growing up, both him and his wife would come over for Christmas Eve. We would exchange presents then. His wife quit coming after a while. She doesn't like us. That's fine, he used to still come. Then his eyes got bad. He cancelled Christmas. And for a while, my mom would make plans to go get him or see him somehow and he would cancel either the day before or the day of. That's what makes me so mad. He doesn't have to see me. But his 3 daughters? He should want to see them and should make time for them. He should fight to see them! It would make me so angry to see my mom & aunts let down every time.
I know I need to forgive that. He has been coming over the last year or so - more now that he has a great-grandson to visit. Maybe he's trying. I just can't help but remember the past. Maybe I should add him to my resolution list.
